W-X

W-X is an experimental solo project of <a href="spotify:artist:58oRcDOFn1MnyCBMgiWZmD">Tim Presley</a>, a California-based musician best known as the founder of psychedelic rock bands <a href="spotify:artist:5gH9MJvoI7pN9bohESzYaA">White Fence</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6lNdjatBO3aCJfYYPDKCm6">Darker My Love</a>, and a former member of <a href="spotify:artist:6rBLnxCHDUQTw1nf2qWfm2">Strange Boys</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6WoTvA9qinpHtSRJuldYh6">the Fall</a>. Unlike his primarily guitar-centric other projects, his work as W-X finds him experimenting with drum machines and synthesizers, creating rambling, messy free-form soundscapes that recall the collage-like experimental rock of <a href="spotify:artist:4yBBNmdvVaoPEnr2lt14q7">Faust</a> (circa The Faust Tapes) as well as the blunted beat excursions of <a href="spotify:artist:5LhTec3c7dcqBvpLRWbMcf">Madlib</a>. <a href="spotify:artist:5vIYVb7FAzYeQRE8xuYS9j">John Dwyer</a>'s <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Castle+Face%22">Castle Face</a> label, which had previously released two <a href="spotify:artist:5gH9MJvoI7pN9bohESzYaA">White Fence</a> albums, issued W-X's self-titled debut in November of 2015. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
