Wakai Taft

South Atlanta, Ga based rapper Wakai Taft has been rapping since he was in the 9th grade. He was asked to make his first song with a close friend at the time and he decided to gave it a try. After collaborating with multiple rappers within his school, he started to grow attention with his new developing talents which made him start to grow love for his new hobby while recording as well as mix and master his music all through an Ipad.


Wakai was born in 2000 on the South Side of Chicago. Because of the ongoing violence in the area, his mother and father decided to move to South Atlanta hoping for a better life to raise their son at the time. His parents divorced in his 8th grade year. He moved out with his mother and little brother which made his high school years a financial struggle. After his mother went through physical abuse from her ex boyfriend in 10th grade, Wakai swears to her a better life one day.


After Wakai’s Freshman year of college, he dropped out and decided to take rapping seriously in August 2019. Wakai’s music is inspired by a range of artists such as Kendrick Lamar , Travis Scott , Juice WRLD and Michael Jackson. But what’s really interesting is that Wakai’s number one idol is former NBA Champion Dennis Rodman.
Music is a getaway for Wakai, it’s a fun way to express himself. Wakai has begun to evolve his sound and so is his catalogue and overall fan following is increasing day by day striving to become the best artist he can be.
