Waki & The Winstons

"A guy who likes to play guitar learns how to sing, starts writing some songs, then forms a band."
Joaquin "Waki" Ignacio (Singer/Songwriter/Lead Guitarist) has played guitar since he was 9, but never really tried creating music until early into his 20s. Listening to musicians such as John Mayer, Cory Wong, Stevie Wonder, and Red Velvet, Waki learned how to sing, while simultaneously writing songs during the pandemic, sending demos to college friend Lenard Magtira (Bassist). Together, they would upload covers and early compositions through Soundcloud and Facebook.
After continuous gigging, musicians around the scene, such as Reisa Elgincolin (Keyboardist), Diego Cerrudo (Rhythm Guitarist), and Nathan Salera (Drummer), would eventually perform with Waki and Lenard, forming Waki & The Winstons. The band functions with Waki in charge of the band: the songs are written by him, while the other band members assist in creating a unique blend of sound from each member's various influences.

Now, they would continue to play gigs and record original music.
The band released their debut track "Make-Believe" back in May 2023, a song about escaping from the harsh realities of the real world, followed by "Don't You Dare", a blues rock ballad that yearns for a connection that can not be.

Recently, in May 2025, they released their third single "Yugto", a tagalog song about realizing one's tendency to spiral out of control, and an attempt to try to get over that chapter in life.
