One day in my late twenties I remembered a memory I had as a child; that I wanted to write songs. I was a legal-aid lawyer at that time , looking into a future of courthouses and battles. Foolishly or not (I still dont know ), I threw it all in. I took up guitar, writing, spent three years on the subcontinent, studied Indian classical music and threw myself into understanding suffering which, the Buddha assured us, life is. Be careful what you wish for.
I released my first album, Aftermath, in 2005 balanced by a comedy EP, Don't Take Holidays, in 2011. The album, Only, was released in 2013. These Fatal Times, my latest album, was released in January 2022.
I live in northern New South Wales, Australia where it is not too hot nor too cold and the madness of the world seems more distant.
And as for understanding suffering? The Buddha said the life we perceive is illusion but I prefer a line of Leonard Cohen: " there is a crack in everything...that's how the light gets in ".
May you dance in peace.
