Formed in New York City in 2012, Walking Shapes comprise Nathaniel Hoho (hailing from Pennsylvania, he is the only bandmember who isn't a New York native), Jesse Alexander Kotansky, Dan Krysa, Christopher Heinz, and Jake Generalli. Hoho and Alexander had been in a previous band together, and when that band split up, they continued to work and write together, gathering kindred musicians and eventually becoming Walking Shapes, developing a quirky, melancholic pop sound somewhat reminiscent of the Flaming Lips. The band released an LP, Mixtape, Vol. 1, in the summer of 2013, and followed it with the Gus Oberg-produced Taka Come On, led by the single "Woah Tiger," early in 2015. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
