Moody indiepop-duo Walter Rye debuted with their EP 'Solstice' in 2022. Siblings Thom and Marlon Schotel started writing songs together over skype while living in different countries. Thom would send voicenotes of guitar riffs, then Marlon would come up with melodies and lyrics, Thom would add other instrumentals... Once reunited in their homecountry, the Netherlands, they recorded their songs with overdubs and a layered sound of synths, drums, and piano, while they stick to their electric guitars and bass on stage. Deep-voiced singer and (bass)guitarist Marlon takes the audience along with her lyrics, while guitarist Thom weaves into the folky tunes with well-placed and deliberate notes. The band is always working on new material in the same reflective atmosphere, and you may catch them performing one or two covers you may recognise if you're into artist like Bon Iver, Ben Howard or Villagers.
