Walter Taieb began his career in France, where he scored several major hits for artists Rozlyne Clarke, Beckie Bell and Indra. This early success established him as a talented and innovative musician. In the mid-1990s, Taieb moved to New York and emerged as a prominent figure in the house music scene under the brand name The Original. The Original scored a hit single with “I Luv U Baby,” which entered the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number two in the UK Pop Chart. The track also scored number seven in Europe, solidifying Taieb’s place in the genre and showcasing his talent and creativity.
Balancing his dual musical pursuits, Taieb composed “The Alchemist’s Symphony”, the only authorized symphony based on Paulo Coelho’s renowned novel The Alchemist. Taieb collaborated directly with Paulo Coelho on this unique project, blending literary inspiration with musical innovation.
Taieb has collaborated with several famous artists, including violin prodigy Vanessa-Mae. He has also worked on film scores and received multi-platinum sales awards for his work.
Taieb is a notable alumnus of Juilliard and was one of the last students of the esteemed conductor Rolf Reuter in Berlin. Reuter, held significant positions such as Generalmusikdirektor of the Leipzig Opera and chief conductor of the Komische Oper Berlin. Reuter also taught at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin, having mentored many famous conductors including Vladimir Jurowski.
