The first woman inducted into <a href="spotify:artist:7cg61q8kK8jlFi8TKKw70p">Afrika Bambaataa</a>'s Zulu Nation, Wanda Dee became the first solo female DJ to score with two consecutive platinum singles -- "The Goddess" and "To the Bone" -- in 1989. When techno band <a href="spotify:artist:6dYrdRlNZSKaVxYg5IrvCH">KLF</a> sampled her vocals from "To the Bone," Dee sued the group. An out-of-court settlement resulted in her being paid cash and being given co-writing credits and publishing royalties. The experience turned out well for all parties. Agreeing to become the group's lead singer, Dee was featured on six Top Ten singles, including "Last Train to Transcentral" and "Justified and Ancient," and appeared in videos of the songs. She continued to tour with the KLF Featuring Wanda Dee, Wanda Dee & the New KLF, and Wanda Dee & the KLF Experience.

Together with her husband and manager, Eric Floyd, Dee operates her own recording label, G.E.R.L. (Goddess Empire Record Label). ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
