WARAFIKI More than just a music group
Tori (Victoria Mbabazi), Eyla (Damalie Nalugwa) and Treezy (Patricia Debra Nakalembe) are the latest Trio in Uganda’s
entertainment industry, signed to Fenon Records. The three under the moniker ‘Warafiki’ which in Swahili means ‘Friends’ have been friends for seven years with one common goal which is music.
Shortly before lockdown, they wanted to achieve their musical dream but couldn’t find an appropriate person to make their dream come to reality until they got to Fenon Records.
For three years now, they have been undergoing immense vocal training and stage performance and presence among other things, reading them for the entertainment industry.
But like every journey that starts with a single step, Friday, 8th December 2023 will be a memorable day in Warafiki’s music career as they premiered their debut Afro Pop tune under Fenon titled ‘Bwekati’, produced by Steve Jean along with Legend P and Joel Keys.
Despite their debut single being Afro Pop, the trio say they don’t want to be defined by that style on and consider themselves versatile.
“We do different styles of music. In this generation, you can’t stick to one style of music because the market is so wide. As Warafiki, we have songs in Afro zouk, Reggae, RnB and Tecno among others,” they said.
With the guidance of Steve Jean, a legendary producer, artiste manager and event’s organizer, there is no doubt that these fashion-forward stars are here to stay.
