Wariruna

Wariruna is an Ecuadorian band of traditional music. We have our roots in the different indigenous communities of the Kayambi people, belonging to the Kichwa nationality in the northern Ecuadorian Andes. The traditional music of our people met us to celebrate the Inti Raymi (Celebrations in honor of the sun father). We go with our colorful costumes, to the rhythm of our melodies and diverse verses. We share our music with the mission of preserving and transmitting our invaluable culture.

We won the XV Kayambi Music Festival, whose prize allowed us to release our first album in 2018. Our album is called Sinchi Wacharishpa in the Kichwa native language (Born with Fortitude). This album pays tribute to the traditional music of the Kayambi people, with music inspired by our daily life. We sing to life, to love, to our people, with the vision of preserving our marvelous customs.

Like the plants' sprout from mother earth. Or as a ray of light that detaches from the sun father to begin its voyage through the cosmos. We started to share our art. We are children that are born strong. We want to grow, we want to move forward. But first, we have to feed, we have to play, we have to smile, we have to cry. We have started to walk on the path of life.
