We Do Crime is a punk-inspired musical group consisting of 3 members. It is a project born in the wake of the 2020 pandemic, utilizing the advantages of the digital world to create music asynchronously. The project aims to create music based around the criminal lifestyle, capitalizing on the vast metaphoric richness and creative possibilities associated with antisocial behavior. The band seeks to creatively invest in a culture that celebrates individualism, DIY attitudes, and freedom from authority. By the inherent dissociative construct of a digital audio landscape, the band translates the loss of self, fractured communities, heartless corporate influence, and rampant capitalism into hard-edged riffing, head-spinning rhythms, acrid, reality-based lyrics delivered with relentless resolve into an unwilling social diaspora.
We Do Crime is as much a statement of culture as a statement of purpose. Born from the need to defend our inalienable rights and dignities under all circumstances, to accept the truth that we are human; full of frailty and hope, tragedy and glory, good and evil, and to speak truth to the powers that seek to own those experiences, to control our autonomy and to dominate our freedom.
