Westerlight is an Indie-Americana duo made up of Oklahoma singer-songwriters Rachel and Jonny Hupp. Their songs capture the modern ache of existence by directing an unflinching eye towards themes of hard-won love, frustrated faith, and unlikely hope in the midst of it all. In spite of their penchant for contemplative themes, Westerlight brings an electric charge to their folk stylings. After years of writing songs together, the husband and wife pair have crafted a sound that is as fresh as it is familiar and as graceful as it is gritty.

After gaining attention on Spotify in 2019 with over 300k streams of their single “I Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” Westerlight began 2020 by recording their debut album, Sunday Best. In the midst of the uncertainty brought on by a global pandemic, Westerlight garnered support from fans, friends and family by launching a successful Kickstarter campaign. Drawing upon traditional Americana influences as well as modern indie-rock sounds, the album establishes a new course for the songwriting pair. Chronicling the duo’s departure from Evangelical Christianity, Sunday Best is as much a tongue-in-cheek nod to the ways that raised them as it is a showcase of their knack for crafting a melody.

Sunday Best released for streaming and download October 30.
