Westerner

Westerner is an indie rock band with neo-psychedelic and synth pop flavors in the vein of <a href="spotify:artist:6FQqZYVfTNQ1pCqfkwVFEa" data-name="Foals">Foals</a> or <a href="spotify:artist:4yvcSjfu4PC0CYQyLy4wSq" data-name="Glass Animals">Glass Animals</a>. Their songs are at once danceable and mesmerizing. Funky beats and occasional electronics are applied to a showy indie-rock style that can either be danced to or appreciated on a purely musical level. Some very savvy pop tunes are deftly mixed with space and synth rock elements. It’s a compliment to say that their music is hard to compare to anybody else’s.

They&#39;ve racked up over 93k followers on TikTok, spins on LA&#39;s KCSN 88.5FM and Amazing Radio (Tobi Lynn, Jose Galvan), and rave reviews from publications like BuzzBandsLA and American Pancake. They currently work with world-famous mastering engineer Vlado Meller (<a href="spotify:artist:5K4W6rqBFWDnAN6FQUkS6x" data-name="Kanye West">Kanye West</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4STHEaNw4mPZ2tzheohgXB" data-name="Paul McCartney">Paul McCartney</a>), and mixing engineer Jules de Gasperis (<a href="spotify:artist:7AfmYGPRYiNkwKfV8LrqLd" data-name="Low Hum">Low Hum</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5Oc8oZUaomLEy1mHOgL5Q6" data-name="James Supercave">James Supercave</a>).

The trio consists of Cooper Bombadil on vocals, guitar and synth, Brandon Valerino (member of LGBTQA&#43; band <a href="spotify:artist:4SbCu2TsVJF5FQll8M7acp" data-name="Kingqueen">Kingqueen</a>) on bass, synth and backing vocals, and Mike Gattshall on drums and samples. Their debut album, &#34;Unreal City,&#34; was a sci-fi concept album composed of catchy pop songs, surreal sounds, and strange characters. 2023 will see the release of animated music videos for every song on Unreal City culminating in a psychedelic, musical movie in the tradition of <a href="spotify:artist:0k17h0D3J5VfsdmQ1iZtE9" data-name="Pink Floyd">Pink Floyd</a>&#39;s The Wall, or Heavy Metal.
