Wido Kim is a Berlin-based composer and pianist.
His introspective music is rooted in neoclassical piano but draws from a wide range of influences from impressionism to late romanticism to elements of pop and jazz. As a careful observer of nature and society, his music mirrors how he perceives his surroundings with all senses.
His debut album Elements (2024) attempts to capture the essence of the four elements: the flow of water, the transformational power of fire, the expansion of air and the stability of earth. With the first two pieces composed in his teenage years and the last two pieces composed in his thirties, the album mirrors his own intricate journey with the elements.
Rooted in a deep belief that the four elements do not only make up our material outer world, but also compose our spiritual inner world, the pieces invite to go inwards and reflect fundamental questions such as ‘what are we made of?’ or ‘what are we made for?’.
