WIFE is the shadowy electronic pop project of Irish singer/songwriter James Kelly, who also recorded three albums with the acclaimed experimental black metal outfit Altar of Plagues. When that group disbanded, Kelly sought a different musical direction and looked to his love of electronic music for inspiration. WIFE's debut EP, Stoic, arrived in late 2012 on Throwing Snow's Left Blank label and blended elements of industrial, 2-step, and ambient music into broodingly beautiful songs. The following year, WIFE signed to Tri Angle Records; for his first full-length, Kelly collaborated with producers the Haxan Cloak and Vex'd's Roly Porter. The result was the lighter, more eclectic What's Between, which was released in June 2014. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
