Willa\Mai

Willa\Mai is the joint project of Sunshine Coast artists, Calan Mai and Alvy Willa. Combining folk storytelling with synth-pop and electronic production, this duo creates music neither could have made on their own—pulling inspiration from the space that exists between genres.

After signing to American management and recording his debut album in 2019, Calan Mai was set to move to Chicago when the pandemic hit, changing his (and everyone’s) plans. He instead moved back to his hometown of the Sunshine Coast, after more than 10 years away. It was here he met local producer, Alvy Willa.

Alvy Willa spent much of his 20s busking, writing and surfing up and down the east coast of Australia, before settling on the Sunshine Coast, trading the streets for the stage with electronic pop trio ‘Forrest Run’. He continued to hone his craft in production and songwriting with the launch of his solo project in 2020.

Calan Mai and Alvy Willa are now focused on cementing their sound with the launch of a debut single, ‘New Cage’, as well as a performance at Spring in the Vale 2021!
