Windsurf are the duo of San Francisco-based producers Daniel Saxon Judd and Samuel Milton Grawe. Both together and separately -- Grawe also records as Hatchback, while Judd, formerly of the band Call & Response, works on his own under the name Sorcerer -- they are among the primary American exponents of the internationally dispersed style of free-floating, downtempo, gently psychedelic electronic music known as Balearic or cosmic disco. After they each independently caught the attention of Norwegian scene leader Prins Thomas, he invited the duo to reissue its debut, Windsurf EP (originally a 2006 digital-only release on the Los Angeles label Sentrall), as one of the first offerings from his Internasjonal label in early 2008. Their full-length debut, Coastlines, appeared in November, completing a loose spiritual trilogy alongside Sorcerer and Hatchback's respective debut albums, White Magic (2007) and Colors of the Sun (2008). ~ K.
