Winsome began her recording career in 1985 when she signed to the South London Record Company Fashion Records. Her first release on their Fine Style label was a cover of Barbara Acklin's "Am I The Same Girl". The session musicians were Brinsley Forde, Tony Robinson, Angus Gaye and Bigger Morrison (ASWAD). Deborahe Glasgow, and Winsome provided the backing vocals for the track. ASWAD, played on Winsome's first 4 releases for Fashion.
It was during a recording session with Frankie Paul, following the birth of her daughter that Frankie told Winsome to "Sing like you're giving birth!".
After hearing and falling in love with Karyn White's "Superwoman", Winsome recorded a reggae version and invited Tippa Irie, to feature on the DJ version of the track with her. This turned out to be an inspired pairing as in 1989 Winsome and Tippa were awarded gold discs for reaching No.1 in the UK reggae charts. She recorded a French version of Louchie Lou and Michie One's track "RICH GIRL", with French DJ Big Boss entitled "AH! SI JETAIS RICHE" for French label Bachich. This track did big tings in the charts across Europe and is still being licensed to this day! She also recorded on Anthony Brightly's Sir George label, including her only album to date released in 1995, entitled "STORY OF A BLACK WOMAN".
Winsome is finally back writing material after years spent gigging she feels it's finally time to give the listeners something new and let them decide if she is still the same girl….
