Having been heavily involved in the Philadelphia area underground music scene since the 1990s, the members of Witness spent years touring together as 4/5 of the progressive post-punk act The Twilight Collective. After taking a long break from making music—and finding themselves at a drastically different point in their lives—Mark Mongiovi, Phil Bryer, Doug Davisson, and Matt Canning reformed in 2014 with a different mission: To challenge themselves to return to their roots and to draw influence from the bands that served as the foundation of their love of heavy underground music.
Witness wrote and recorded a five-song EP called "Everyone is Weak" in 2016. It was followed up by the six-song "Lifecycles" EP, released in early 2019. Both EP's were recorded and produced with Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland (Atrium Audio). The four-song EP, "Fear Signals", was recorded and produced by Mark Mongiovi (Beacon Studios) and was released on July 7, 2023.
