Woodland Fairy is an instrumental music group founded in Montreal by Matt Bessette, who had been thinking for a few years of creating an acoustic, organic, minimalist and authentic music project that would be a great blend between folk and the orchestral music from the movie universe. Inspiration stroke during his first trip to exotic countries, from which the song Flying Over the Sea was created. This song would set the tone and color for the rest of the project, on top of propelling it and motivating Matt to write more songs and arrangements.
It is while doing a series of shows in Quebec and Europe that Matt met and fell under the spell of Quatuor Orphée. The quartet’s talent and sensitivity bring a magic touch in the band and an even more dynamic and colorful tint to Matt’s music. The lyrical flights, the parts played in pizzicato and the astonishing effect brought by the strings are a wink to orchestral movie music.
