World Atlas formed in Brooklyn, NY in 2006 as a vehicle for the homemade four-track recordings of frontman Brian Groux. Over the course of the next four years, the band's lineup included the likes of Jessica Healy, Jenny Logan, Jonathan Nigro, Lauren Ashley Strenge, Alex Haager, and guest member Fred Thomas (who at that point was best known for his work with the likeminded group Saturday Looks Good to Me). World Atlas' twinkly, shambling tunes, graced with Groux's unmistakably Stuart Murdoch-like vocals, welcomed comparisons to Belle & Sebastian; the group's sound also gave a nod to contemporaries like the Hermit Crabs and the Math and Physics Club. The group's self-titled debut EP was released on Magic Marker Records in the spring of 2010. ~ TiVo Staff, Rovi
