World of Sin is a music project of Dutch singer-songwriter Guy Maalsté (1976). The name, World of Sin, relates to his personal life experiences.
Guy's life path was pretty rough, especially during his younger years. He fell victim to a sexual predator who abused him for over a decade, resulting in both PTSD and homelessness (for over five years). But, he fought back and managed to change the tide. Starting from a seemingly hopeless situation, which can be described as a period marked by anxiety and many other difficulties — including financial problems, within a year he was fully self-supporting again.
Through many years of battling for survival, sometimes literally, Guy learned what's really important in life. Considering learned lessons, he now describes his personal dark era as a blessing, which brought him much closer to the man he really is. "It's incredibly important to be true to yourself and I don't mean that lightly. It truly is the most important choice you can make, because that's how fulfilment and happiness are unlocked. For me, making music is the most important thing in life. It's my way of establishing the connection with my inner being, or maybe it's God, but whatever comes from this and wherever my musical journey may take me: happiness and fulfilment have already been unlocked, because that's the general feeling I take from it."
