Rolling Stone named Wormrot’s HISS (2022) one of the year’s best metal releases. This Singaporean grindcore trio—Rasyid (Guitar), Arif (Vocals), and Fitri (Drums)—began their unlikely rise when Earache Records signed them in 2009 after discovering an online mixtape. Their debut Abuse (2009) led to a re-issue and global tours, making Wormrot Singapore’s pioneering international touring band.

With Dirge (2011), their viral mascot, Biquette the Grindcore Goat, emerged. Voices (2016) solidified their status, earning a perfect Metal Injection review and praise from VICE as ‘one of the most promising new Grindcore bands.’ In 2017, they became the first Southeast Asian act at Glastonbury.

HISS (2022) pushed boundaries with violin sections and extended tracks. Rolling Stone called it ‘a frenzied plunge into the unknown,’ praising its ambition. Supporting Napalm Death and playing Hellfest 2024 capped off this major cycle.

Now reunited with their original lineup, Wormrot is set to dominate grindcore. As Kerrang! put it: ‘Wormrot can grind faces with the best, but they also bring their own unique flavor.’
