Info on the latest release: "The Drop," is a feature film composed by Markus Wormstorm. Its produced by KAE, and is Jonathan Parkinson directorial debut. The film recently premiered at the Joburg Film Festival and is scheduled to drop on Amazon Prime of the 4th of April 2024
The first track on the EP sums it up. It’s the violence of 70’s grindhouse films, as heard in vintage surf rock, mixed with 90’s hiphop, all with an authentic African feel. Markus' soundtrack reimagines the 1970s Grindhouse genre’ in an authentic African way. He used AI to breathe new life into old, forgotten afro-beat tracks from 50 years ago.
Some of the other tracks, like Tigerfights’ Mfaz’ Wephepha has a South American Bosa Nova feel but with Xhosa lyrics.
Track 2, We Need Aircon, is African Blues with a big electric guitar line.
The film itself is the story of how three friends' lives get turned upside down when they discover a backpack containing money and a memory stick that every badass in town seems to be after.
