Wrldbeat

WRLDBEAT, based in and around Amsterdam, is funk, latin, hip-hop, reggae & soul mixed up in the melting pot of a musical collaboration. The 9-piece band is a mix of cultures and generations playing as one.

WRLDBEAT has a history stretching back over decades. Nico (guitar) and Carl (drums) played together in <a href="spotify:artist:1ErsjAAijzAXVpO4W8YTh7" data-name="What Fun!">What Fun!</a> and experienced a burst of fame as <a href="spotify:track:11kQekR2aajih2wNmE6mI9" data-name="The Right Side Won">The Right Side Won</a> shot to the top of the charts.

When they later reformed they met Jort, whose versatile bass playing meshed with Carl&#39;s latin-influenced beats.

They stumbled over Stephanie and Larissa, whose voices seemed predestined to sing together. Funk-veteran Mick on sax became the loudest member of the crew and Alan was drafted in on keyboards.

The sound expanded in a new direction with the unpredictable lyrical rap captain Mr. Jahson, notably on <a href="spotify:track:5STI9v8PaI6bdg01JBEb8n" data-name="Dreamer">Dreamer</a> .

The WRLDBEAT line up evolved through the years. Following Milber, Koko and Noud (vocals on the first EP) as lead vocalists, Larissa took on the front and centre role for all the albums with her flowing lead vocal style.

Henk on percussion pushed the latin influences further as they moved into making albums.

Sarah was a vocalist in the band for five years until early 2024, with lead vocal credits on songs like <a href="spotify:track:63AlLiCYkN2irhEjMkwQhC" data-name="Wonder">Wonder</a>.

Luke joined in 2022 on guitar, adding a new dimension to the <a href="spotify:album:1K9DNy5xOQ0SsBtwrca0OA" data-name="Newborns Come Alive">Newborns Come Alive</a> album.

2025 was a year of changes. Daan joined on vocals and the band parted company with Mr. Jahson and Alan.
