Despite two solo EP's and numerous collaborations over the years, Holding Up Half The Sky is Xan Tyler's debut solo album and is due for release May 24th 2024 on Last Night From Glasgow. Produced by Boo Hewerdine and recorded at Chem-19 by Jamie Savage the record features a host of talent including Adam Scott (Album Club, Zooey Van Goey), Louis Abbott (Admiral Fallow), John Rooney (Starry Skies), John McCusker, Pete Harvey, Gustaf Ljunggren and a guest vocal from The Delgado's Emma Pollock.
Inspired by stories of female empowerment the record draws on personal experiences and stories about women of interest to Xan.
Xan's previous collaborations include Let It Come Down with renowned NY Shimmy Disc producer Kramer (Low, Galaxie 500, Daniel Johnston), Glasshouse with esteemed session trombonist David Liddell (Baba Maal, Beyonce, Pharell Williams) and most recently with UK dub reggae legend Mad Professor on their album Clarion Call (the pair also released together with Mission Control on Dub Showcase which boasted a guest vocal from Lee "Scratch" Perry.
Xan has worked with a stellar list of producers, musicians and labels including
Timo Maas, Martin Buttrich, Stephen Hague, Owen Morris, Positiva....this list continues to grow.
