Xander Boulard

Xander Boulard is a singer/songwriter and self taught guitarist born and raised in the prairies of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is a writer first who strives for authenticity in his work, leaving little for himself in the name of honest storytelling. At just seventeen years old Xander released his debut single “School Linoleum”- a grieving song about an incident he endured in high school involving his sexuality- and has continued to follow his gut when it comes to the stories he chooses to share through his deeply personal and poetic lyricism. “School Linoleum” was accompanied by an original music video directed by Winnipeg filmmaker Matthew Shoup, which was released in October 2023. Xander followed up his debut single in December 2023 with “Suitcase” a song about unrequited queer love, continuing his themes of poetic lyricism. “Suitcase” also featured a music video edited and directed by friend and frequent collaborator Matthew Shoup, which was just released this past June 2024.
In March of 2024 Xander was featured in a docu-series for CBC Gem produced by Farpoint Films called “Finding Diamonds” where he got to tell the story of what happened to him at school, and featured his song and music video for “School Linoleum”. This past summer, Xander, now eighteen, was honoured to be a part of the Young Performers Program at the Winnipeg Folk Festival for the first time, performing with and learning from some of the best musicians working in the industry today.
