XY is a dynamic and high-powered band, featuring 13 artists from the Japanese TV talent competition program "YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X" produced by YOSHIKI.
Together, they stand on three key fundamentals - an ensemble of unrivaled artistry, exceptional vocal skills, and globally acclaimed dance performance.
The group consists of a five-piece band and a dance vocal group of eight. They are not two separate groups, but rather a union, interweaving their unique skills to produce an amazing, one-of-a-kind musical experience.
XY was selected from an unprecedented worldwide band & boys group audition to break through the global music scene.
The program started in February 2022. Distinguished guest judges from Japan and the world participated, from Gene Simmons of KISS, world famous soprano singer Sarah Brightman, top choreographer Travis Payne (known for Michael Jackson’s "THIS IS IT"), and one-of-a-kind Japanese vocalist HYDE. The program was the #1 rated variety program on Hulu Japan.
Going through a fierce "debut battle", 13 artists finally won their positions in the band & dance vocal group in February 2023.
