It’s safe to say that when you first meet the country-pop duo YA’BOYZ, you won’t soon forget it. Zach Kale and Joe Ragosta bring unparalleled energy, wit, and warmth into every room they enter. Like two contrasting sides to the same coin, their synergy and one-of-a-kind duality is both palpable and captivating.
The differences in their musical backgrounds are about as paradoxical as their personalities. Initially pursuing a career in country songwriting, YA’BOYZ lead vocalist Zach gained ground when his song “Grow Old” was cut by Florida Georgia Line. He soon began breaking into the country music scene and establishing himself as a prolific songwriter and producer, with credits on Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope” featuring Charlie Puth, plus cuts with NELLY, Keith Urban, and more.
In contrast, Joe had fronted a pop-punk band on the Warped Tour circuit, but always wanted to transcend genre barriers and try his hand at country songwriting. Although their friendship was instantaneous, their writing schedules only sporadically brought them back together. In 2018 the stars fatefully aligned for the pair to be back in the writer’s room again, but this time with a completely blank canvas. There was no schedule, no artist brief, no rules, and no pressure. Their natural banter and diverse musical backgrounds organically collided, and a new genre-melding sound started to take form.
