Yakobo

Yakobo is a singer-songwriter and musical polymath whose well-crafted songs have won hearts across the globe. He has been praised for his intricate soundscapes, thoughtful lyrics and a voice that ranges from delicate falsetto to huge, bellowing choruses. This has attracted comparisons to Jeff Buckley and James Bay.

Yakobo’s live show has captivated audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. There is a raw honesty conveyed through the intimate hushed moments, gritty vocal outpourings and euphoric sing-along hooks that characterise Yakobo’s performance. The self-produced 2012 debut release <a href="spotify:album:4vCWgVsE1UgCetf6YKhhSb" data-name="Glimpses">Glimpses</a> showed the breadth of Yakobo’s scope and ambition; breezing through folk, indie-pop and epic rock with no difficulty.

Between 2015 and 2017 Yakobo released a trilogy of EPs - <a href="spotify:album:2vKfMyHGTt73qvnrGsdxhl" data-name="Wander in the Wilderness">Wander in the Wilderness</a>, <a href="spotify:album:3xksEb7DJrYRbmkiy5AK4h" data-name="The Passage of Time">The Passage of Time</a> and <a href="spotify:album:1i2aStDUWL2woyASZ15GAp" data-name="Maybe the Land Was Just a Dream">Maybe the Land Was Just a Dream</a> after securing crowd-funding through Kickstarter. Each EP showed a progression to Yakobo’s songwriting and sound and received praise from critics and a growing fanbase. Popular tracks such as Dawn Is Here and Head In The Sand have been picked up by some of the industry’s best-loved bloggers and curators.

Yakobo has also scored films and video games, including <a href="spotify:album:2BwZODwniBiY5DFU35YOr0" data-name="The Turing Test (Original Game Soundtrack)">The Turing Test (Original Game Soundtrack)</a>. These ambient works show a different side to Yakobo’s writing and have gained recognition in their own right.
