                                    Yasak Helva formed by 3 musicians, who have different musical backgrounds (funk, jazz, arabesque, death metal, grunge) from each other. The band named their music as “electric folk”.
Yasak Helva uses cümbüs (a Turkish fretless instrument, looks and sounds like a mix of oud and banjo), caglama (electric saz with high tension guitar strings), bass and drums while they building their music over Anatolia, Balkans, Middle East, etc... they also like to add a little touch from rock and jazz classics during performance.
Yasak Helva drew a quick attention in alternative &traditional music area. Played at Jazz a’Carthage 2019 in Tunisia and at Sziget Festival 2019 in Hungary.
With their “Silifke Zeybegi” cover, Yasak Helva took place in second compilation album about the new generation of Turkish psychedelics, called “Saz Power”, which unleashed in Japan, USA and Europe. The trio released their first album “Rektefe” in autumn 2019 and respectively Eki Attar (2020), To Dervisaki (2021), Eastern Journey (2022) singles.
