The Finnish Beninise singer/ songwriter Yasmine Yamajako’s upcoming debut album Planted Not Buried has been long time comming. Yasmine wrote the first song for the album ( BUBBLE) after termitanting her record deal with a major label in 2017. Yasmine is most known for her soulful and raw expression, vocal ability and pioneering work in the Finnish art scene. Y became known to the larger audience for featuring on the platinum selling hit “Syypää sun hymyyn” (feat. Yasmine Yamajako) by the Finnish superstar “Cheek”. And later her ground breaking role as the first black female lead in the Little Mermaid in Helsinki City theater was noticed nationwide and gained her an invitation to Finland's Independence day reception by president Alexander Stubb.
Yasmine’s first single BUBBLE is an interlude and starting point of the upcoming visual concept albums storyline. On the release Y documents the journey from trying to escape the oh so universal experience of worthlessness into the gaze of another to finding value within herself and well from the gaze of God.
Planted Not Burried is an invitation into Yasmine's inner landscape and artistry. In her vocal choices and in the melodic patterns she writes you'll hear the influence of 90's singer divas and music’s heavyweights such as Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, combined with rnb and amapiano sounds representing her cultural background. The combination creates an authentic and fresh sound with a hint of nostalgia.
