Well-crafted rock songs with great musicianship never go out of style. Years On End, the Detroit-based solo project of Tim Killeen, keeps that tradition alive. Introspective, insightful and personal, the songs on Years On End’s debut album, Colors, cover a huge range of rock sounds, from straight-ahead garage rock to sweet acoustic ballads to callbacks to the 1970s.
Previously leading Chicago indie bands John Adams 4 and Greenpilot, Tim Killeen takes the high energy feel of Chicago’s rock clubs and marries it to autobiographical songs and contemplative production. Detroit’s great history of independent music plays a huge role in the recording of Colors, which was made in Killeen’s basement studio.
Lovers of indie rock, garage rock, and the pop rock of the ‘70s and ‘90s will find a home with Years On End’s sound. Put on some good headphones, take a seat, and dive deep into the intricate songwriting of Years On End.
