Taking cues from his rich Caribbean ancestry, YEO CIG naturally pronounces his accents where needed. Born and raised in the Bronx, the birthplace of rap’s ubiquitous sound, CIG’s inundation with words began out of necessity. As a child, he was drawn to the free form of poetry and a wide range of genre's because of his heritage. His mother being Puerto Rican & his father being Jamaican helped with broadening his love of music. He draws inspiration from many genre's such as Funk, House, Dance, Reggae, Reggaeton as well as Hip-Hop & Trap and implements many aspects into his own music. He used songwriting as a means to escape the violence which marred his neighborhood. He has been influenced by many lyricists like Max B, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z & DMX . Now, the self-proclaimed “Cig Whale” is coupling his seamless delivery with his larger-than-life persona to put on for Uptown and beyond.
