The Youth Music Initiative Music & Sound Pathways Project was started in 2014.
Funded by Youth Music Initiative for Aberdeenshire Council and delivered by Sam Lumsden of First Class Drums.

Over the years, the project has been run in Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Banff, Mintlaw, Turriff and Macduff.

Each year, a number of young people apply to take part in the project, which is free of charge to them.
The project aims to give young people an experience of what it is like to work professionally in the following disciplines; musician, audio engineer, photographer, videographer, artist and graphic designer.

The main goal of the project is to create original music, artwork, photography and videography, and to release this as both a CD package and digitally online.

Over three days, the project takes each group of participants from writing a song from scratch, rehearsing the song, recording a demo of the song, before going into the studio to record it properly. Artwork, photography and videography is produced and turned into a CD booklet and digital release.
