YNES describes writing lyrics as a form of therapy, making music to process things that piss her off. In 'The Daily Male' she confronts toxic masculinity - particularly in English football culture. In 'Fake What Your Mama Gave Ya' she highlights the wealth disparity and class appropriation in the arts. Weaving sharp, often cheeky lyricism over high-energy indie punk, YNES creates a sound that’s raw, relatable, and undeniably anthemic.
YNES has already made a name for herself by supporting acts like GIRLI and Benefits, and playing major festivals such as Isle of Wight and Glastonbury, where she shared the stage with Billy Bragg. Her DIY ethos has always been front and center: two independent UK tours, where she organized shows with friends to save on promoter fees and hand-painted her own merch, showed her commitment to the grind.
In December 2023, YNES released her debut EP Born Loser through DaemonTV, an independent label run by alt-music icon Du Blonde. The EP's themes of passion, grit, and self-reflection resonated deeply with fans, reflecting her unfiltered approach to songwriting.
After spending 2025 in Canada, getting sober and confronting her feelings (cringe), YNES is preparing to drop a fresh wave of 90s-inspired slacker rock energy, packed with the same raw, confessional lyrics that fans have come to love.
