Mixing passion & pain with fashion and vain, Washington, DC - area singer and rapper Yoko Chanel is hip hop’s baddest black man, an alt-black boy bringing funk, soul, & a care free approach back to the genre. The Cheverly native, born Clyde Benson Davis III, uses his mental health struggles masked by his sense of fashion to make songs that would put him in the limelight. After finishing high school and moving to Atlanta, to attend Morehouse College, with dreams of becoming a producer, he met fellow artist Hanzo. This is where Chanel’s breakout song “Chanel Bleu” was made in 2018. Yoko and Hanzo would go on to release five singles together in a 2 year timespan forming a dynamic duo between the two artists. After releasing five singles, Yoko garnered enough attention to put together a string of sold out shows in the Washington DC area performing at Moechella Art Gallery, The Village, The Pie Shop, and many more well known venues. In 2021 Yoko dropped his afro-punk, disco myriad “DC Rager” that payed homage to both his area of Washington DC as he gallivanted over Kid Cudi’s “New York City Rage Fest”. “DC Rager” landed him on his first spotify editorial playlist, “Ripple Effect: DMV”. With full support of the DMV area, Yoko Chanel is gearing up to release his debut EP, “All Feelings are Final”.
