From the sun-soaked landscapes of Greater Bakersfield, Yonder Lights craft a unique blend of alt-country that captures the essence of their surroundings and California musical tradition while paying homage to the genre's rich history.

With heartfelt lyrics, biting melodies, and lush harmonies, this four-piece band has carved out a place for themselves in the vibrant California music scene. Their music is a journey through open roads, dusty trails, and heartaches spanning the coastline to the inland valleys. The songs tell stories of love and loss, the search for meaning, and the struggles of everyday life, painting a picture of a world where nostalgia and hope coexist. Inspired by the Pacific coastline, the rugged mountains, and the vast deserts, Yonder Lights craft songs that effortlessly blend classic country, rock, punk, and indie influences into a soundscape across the western sky.

From the drawn-out desert-highway-at-night intro of the title track, the punk rock swagger of “Give It All Away,” the Calexico meets the Eagles flavor of “4th of July,” the buckle-shining, honky tonk sway of the first single “Goodnight Darlin’,” and the plaintive love anthem and closer, “Can’t Believe (That’s Easy)” Yonder Lights have crafted a collection of songs in Retractor that highlight their command of the musical landscape known as Greater Bakersfield.

The band is Sean Schroeder (vocals/guitar), Dave Hays (drums), Greg Hain (guitar/pedal steel), and Juan Flores (bass).
