Originally from Toronto, Canada and now in California, Young Mommy is innovating a new style of fun and catchy pop-rap for all ages. A mother of 4 girls, Young Mommy creates commercial rap songs the whole family can enjoy. With themes of empowerment, femininity and independence, Young Mommy is transforming the way moms, and rappers, are perceived. Her music possesses the same bold attitude as many of today’s female rappers without the expletives.
The flourishing artist grew up listening to mainstream American rappers in Canada. She even performed as Run DMC in her elementary school’s Christmas concert. When she became a mom her love of rap had to take a back seat. She shares, “I found I couldn’t listen to rap in front of my kids because of the explicit lyrics and images in mainstream music videos. My kids began emulating popular female rappers.” This was when the light bulb went off and Young Mommy had that “aha” moment. She could craft mainstream sounding music without any explicit lines. Her vision and mission is creating a wholesome listening experience and filling a void in the current offerings of the genre. Young Mommy’s music is perfect for sports games, retail stores, family events and any environment for kids and rap lovers alike.
