Young Pilot emerged from years of playing music in parent’s basements. Originating in the imaginative mind of Scott Carere, the band’s first release, “Old Love” (2017), was the final product from a culmination of songs written during the first 21 years of Carere’s life. The recording and production of which took place surrounded by the same concrete walls that fortified the inception of Young Pilot.
Moving into basements of their own, Young Pilot progressed to create material marked by bright sounds, infectious grooves, and melodies that you just can’t get out of your head. Their latest release, “Airwaves”, written (mostly), recorded, and produced during the turbulent times of self-quarantining reflects the artistic efforts of multi-instrumentalist Scott Carere in collaboration with drummer Ethan Meyers. “Airwaves” is head-bopping, foot-tapping jams that transport the listener to their place of escape and self-reflection. Connections with others – in celebration of, in frustration with, and longing for, are central themes of the album. Whether that time, that place, or that person has been or will be, “Airwaves” will find you there.

"Young Pilot" represents a distant dream, like a youthful kid who has their heart set on being an airplane pilot someday. Though eager, the limitation is in his own age - what do you want to be when you grow up?
