Houston-native rapper Chad Johnson, known around in the scene as "Yung Chad", is an up-and-coming hip hop artist. An alumni of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Yung Chad was raised in rural Mississippi and began writing his own music at the age of 13. Being influenced by rappers like T.I., Lil Wayne, and Young Jeezy, among others, and a fan of West Coast hip-hop, Yung Chad moved to Houston at the age of 15 and became a fan of the Houston rap scene.
What’s so admirable about Yung Chad is that when he raps, he never seems like he is trying to impress anybody. With his voice, commentary, and wicked on-and-off again flow, you can feel him and believe him. Yung Chad ranks high as an up and comer - he definitely holds his own with an exceptional and commanding mic presence, together with the fact that that he is not limited by the region from which he hails: he branches out and drops dope, well-rounded tracks of various sounds and atmospheres. - Buddy Nelson
