Yung Hood’s story is not your average rags-to-riches hood fairytale. Born in the small East Texas town of Corsicana, he was instilled with a gritty, blue-collar work ethic that this rising star still employs today. Writing his first rhyme at age 5, music and creativity have always been a treasured passion. By age 6, Hood’s family had relocated to one of Dallas’ most notorious neighborhoods, the Nutty Nawf. This move exposed Hood to the perils and triumphs of street life and everything it encompassed. Splitting his time between Corsicana and Nawf Dallas for the remainder of his childhood, Hood used the knowledge acquired from both environments to craft a style and persona like no other, becoming one of the first "country artists with city money."
As Hood navigated the streets of Nawf Dallas and the back roads of East Texas, a static buzz began to swarm around his newfound sound. In 2015, Yung Hood began to take his rap career more seriously, releasing projects and investing in his brand.
In 2024, Yung Hood’s career skyrocketed. He signed with Texas superstar BigXthaPlug’s new label, 600 Entertainment. Hood, BigXthaPlug, and emerging artist Ro$ama collaborated on the mixtape MEET THE 6IXERS, featuring tracks like the title song and Hood’s solo hit “Dirty Dawg.” Now a prominent street rapper in Dallas, Yung Hood, the self-styled “Hood Savior,” sees himself as the next big star to represent the real streets of Texas and beyond.
