Yvonne Kay is an Italian pop singer and songwriter by a Greek father and a German mother. Her career includes singing vocals on several Italo disco projects. Since 1986, year of the release of the smash hit "Easy Lady", she performs as Spagna and/or Ivana Spagna - her real name.
Yvonne Kay solo project was born from the meeting between the creative flair of Alfredo “Larry” Pignagnoli and the know-how of Energy Production’s owners, Alvaro Ugolini & Dario Raimondi Cominesi, along with the talented musicians Theo & Ivana Spagna.
She rose to public attention aged 29, when she released her first single “I’ve Got The Music In Me” on the hit label X-Energy Records. The track smashed the dance floors as an engaging Italo disco remake of The Kiki Dee Band pop hit originally written by Tobias Boshell in 1974.
In 1984, X-Energy successfully released her second single, “Rise Up (For My Love)” - written and composed by Linda Jean Wesley, Ivana Spagna, Alfredo “Larry” Pignagnoli & Dario Raimondi Cominesi.
In 2022, almost 40 years later the Yvonne Kay debut, one of Italy's hottest musical exports Re-Tide (aka Andrea Prezioso, Stefano Donato, Mattei & Omich) serve up an easy Summer banger with their superb rework of "I've Got The Music In Me”.
On their Re-Tide Back To 80s Remix the Roman House and Disco connoisseurs capture the Italo disco elements of the original whilst sounding like a truly modern house record for the more glamorous dance floors.
