Zach Jones & the Tricky Bits

“Plastic Soul”, the debut full-length album from Brooklyn's Zach Jones & the Tricky Bits, is a joyous celebration of yesterday’s rock and roll, yet it rejects being retro or hipster and instead shines with an unapologetically bright and fresh pop clarity.  Jones, a singer/songwriter/producer who is currently on the road as Sting's live drummer, brings with his band’s long-awaited full-length the sweet power-pop of 2016's "Rendezvous With A Comet" melded with the somber lyrical introspection of its follow-up EP "Are You A Hologram?”.  The stellar result, "Plastic Soul", is a collection of ten new songs drenched in melody and tight-spun songcraft that are easily his best work by far.


Co-produced and mixed with longtime collaborator Oscar Albis Rodriguez at Studio G in Brooklyn, “Plastic Soul” features an impressive roster of talented area musicians including “Albis” on lead guitar, Brian Killeen on bass, Hannah Winkler (who is currently a member of Lorde's touring band), Jenny Owen Youngs, and Jukebox the Ghost's Ben Thornewill.  Of course this is no accident as Zach Jones has been a prolific session drummer and vital member of Brooklyn’s songwriter scene for the past decade.  While “Plastic Soul” is anchored by Jones’s distinctly powerful and punchy drumming, his undeniably gifted voice is at the fore of his band’s inviting sound.
