Singer-songwriter-producer Zack Hagan has been writing music & performing for over a decade, most recently with improv drum & bass duo 1050 (as ZXL) since Summer 2008. Hagan is the lead singer & guitarist of ZXL; he is also a skilled electronic music producer & player of the Bass, Piano, and Accordion. In addition to band shows, Hagan performs solo "DJ" gigs, subverting the title with live guitar loops, vocals, and original electronica. Most notably Hagan has played the mainstage of CB7 & two shows at the Caribbean Holidaze festival in Jamaica.
In the early aughts, Hagan played bass in the indie rock band Motico. Since embarking on a solo career in 2006, Hagan has composed the score to adult film "Porno Jim’s Hookin’ Up" & traveled to Rwanda as sound mixer for a documentary on Engineers Without Borders, where he recorded local choir music. Both projects inspired albums released in 2008 on indie label roc-elle records. Indeed, 2008 marked a banner year for Hagan as he released three solo albums: "Rhapsody @ Trash Mansion" (dance songs inspired by on-screen sex), "The Muramba Sessions" (cathartic and hypnotic remixes of a Rwandan mass), and his self-titled solo folktronica album. "Zack Hagan" is a journey through love, loss, nature, and New York that demonstrates the convergence of the artist’s acoustic and electronic oeuvres. The album showcases his singing, playing & writing talents as well as his ability to make the most disparate themes danceable.
