Zalma Bour

Shrouded in mystique is Zalma Bour, the Los Angeles-based alternative R&B singer/songwriter whose moody, experimental style is grounded in haunting melodies, probing lyrics and tantalizing falsetto.

Evocative, surreal, and devastatingly vulnerable, Zalma’s debut EP ‘Safe Space’ was released in 2019. Featuring ’Not For Me’, ’I Love Hard’ and ’Try’, the album showcases Zalma’s cerebral depth, effortless range and refreshing originality, cementing her place as a breakthrough contemporary R&B artist with something powerful to say.

Chicago-born, with Eritrean heritage, Zalma grew up in a small, predominately white town outside of Cleveland. Empathic and sensitive, the young artist found herself finely attuned to the moods, dynamics and energy of people around her. As the daughter of immigrant parents, Zalma’s feelings of otherness fuelled her curiosity as an observer, which eventually translated into her music. She says: “I make music for people who feel all the crazy stuff I feel and think, and to give them another reason not to feel so lonely or messy.”
