Zamani Folade is a storyteller in song who writes, produces, engineers, and performs the
music she makes. Her unique brand of Alternate R&B, Neo Soul, Urban Jazz, and Pop explore
themes of self-love, optimism, identity, and Black girl magic. Zamani has performed in the US,
Europe, Caribbean, and Africa. She has been billed alongside London’s Estelle, Jamaica’s Tarrus
Riley, and opened for R&B vets, Mya and Ginuwine as well as Pop legends UB40. She has
collaborated with Hip Hop, Classical, Gospel, Pop, and Jazz Artists and has co-written with
Grammy winner Gordie Sampson and DC Hip Hop Legend Tracey Lee.
Zamani’s dynamic performances on international stages such as: Toronto Soul Festival, Boston
Tree Light, New Skool Rules, Rotterdam, and the St. Lucia Roots and Soul Festival, coupled with
her evocative song writing, have earned her numerous awards. Including: The Stingray TD Jazz
Rising Star Award; SOCAN Young Canadian Songwriters Award; Atlantic Film Festival (FIN) for
Best Musical Score; and the Emerging Lens Best Music Video Award. Zamani is a six-time
ANSMA Award winner – including Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Songwriter of the
Year; She is a four-time ECMA winner - including African Canadian Artist of the Year and R&B
Artist of the Year. In 2023 Zamani received the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee
Medal for excellence in music.
