Leading with a sharp-witted pen and a velvety smooth tone, Zay Wonder’s natural storytelling ability shines through over an array of beats and sample-flips. Also a professional basketball player, the Seattle wordsmith, born Isiah Brown and originally from Anchorage, AK, has been releasing music since his inaugural 2016 project, “Coldest Summer”. Since then, Zay has proven to be a uniquely versatile artist with a sound crafted around influences from his own surroundings. Whether it’s relatable songs about love and heartbreak or his long-winded time stamp records, he has still managed to maintain a core sound that has been refined over the years. As an artist, he occupies a lane inspired by the hip-hop artists of the early 2000’s & 2010’s that in turn made him want to pick up the pen and tell his own story, a story that is slightly less common in today’s rap ecosystem. That accompanied by slick wordplay, a smooth and recognizable tone, cinematic storytelling, and an athlete’s ambition makes it one with the potential to stand out amongst the rest.
