Zef

Zef is a Lebanese singer-songwriter and actor, who was first introduced to the public as a prolific busker on the sidewalks of his coastal hometown, Byblos. A combination of creativity, charisma, a lighthearted presence and emotion make Zef a fresh and innovative songwriter.

His singles, Chi Nhar and Sofon El Bahara first caught the attention of the indie scene. It was Leish Baddi Eb'a however, that brought Zef to the fore, with a song that laments the struggles of young Arab men and women, often forced to emigrate and leave their loved ones behind in search of better living conditions. The accompanying music video received an honorable mention at Germany’s renowned New Wave Short Film Festival in 2021. So impactful was the release, Zef was invited to close the 2021 edition of the Baalbek International Festival with a live solo performance on the mythical Bacchus Stairs.
In 2021, Zef also explored the world of acting by starring in his first role as Youssef in the MBC/Shahid TV series ‘Confessions Of A Fashionista’, written by Nadia Tabbara and directed by Mazen Fayad. It was there that he met Stephanie Atala, which led to the release of the song ‘El Bekle’ ft. Stephanie, the song top charted in the Levant and Arab region for months.

An avid surfer and free-diver, Zef’s music is inspired by his lifelong, intimate connection with the Mediterranean Sea, as well as his passion for life and love despite the many hardships his home country faces on a daily basis.
