Zeyn’el, a Turkish indie folk artist.
An Istanbulite by birth and upbringing, Zeyn'el's cultural and musical roots are in the Anatolian "aşık/ozan" tradition. He plays ukulele, banjo, merlin and guitar, and is a singer and songwriter.

Having studied philosophy as an undergraduate, he is currently doing his PhD in Musicology at Istanbul Technical University, bringing the many facets of his personal background to bear on his studies on philosophy of music.

Zeyn'el blends the ancient wellspring of Anatolian "aşık" tradition with Western folk instruments such as ukulele and banjo, and incorporates a technical mastery of production and character of sound and academic insights about the history and philosophy of music into his art, in an attempt to reach artistic originality based on tradition and knowledge.
